M/s Aminbhavi & Hegde Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Dharwad was established in the year 1973 as partnership firm by Late Shri V R  Aminbhavi, a Civil Engineering graduate from Pune  and Shri R K Hegde, who graduated in Civil Engineering from College of Engineering, Suratkal.

The sojourn of the two enterprising partners began in a single Room Office admeasuring 10’ X 15’ rented by Vanavasi Ram Mandir Trust at Station Road, Malmaddi, Dharwad. (The Room was retained by the company for 30 odd years as a mark of memoire). Initially the Partners were restricted to some advisory works in Design, Construction and Project Management as Professional Consultancy Services in Civil Engineering was not very popular with the masses in those days. But the never say die attitude of both the partners started gaining momentum and 1986 marked the beginning of an era of sheer excellence and professionalism. The first professional work came from the Chidamber Nagar Housing Society, followed by ETP for Lotte Parashuram. In 1989-90, the firm experimented the Pile foundation technique to considerable success and Malaprabha Cooperative Society Oil Mill at Nargund is the first project in this part of Karnataka. A calculated risk which is followed suite by all to design foundation in BC Soil. The 90’s kept us busy by virtue of a host of Clients approaching us for design Consultancy. During this time, we did  detailed Engineering for Sardar Sarobar Irrigation Project at Bharuch & Vimagram ( Kadi), Crest Radial Gates for Manchanbele Reservoir  Project, Anjunem  Irrigation Project, Goa, main Canal of Upper Krishna Project, 10T gantry for Kabini Reservoir, Barrage across river Krishna at  Chikkapadasalagi, Irrigation projects at Hyderabad and Malvalli in Mysore District. etc. We did Water supply schemes to Industrial Growth Centre, Dharwad under KIADB, prepared DPRs for Netherland Assisted Integrated Rural Drinking Water Supply Scheme for 101 Villages and 50 Villages in undivided Dharwad & Bijapur Districts. We provided consultancy services to Industrial giants like TELCO, TELCON, TATA Motors at Dharwad. We were appointed as Design Consultants by West Coast Paper Mills, Dandeli for their expansion works which is continued till date. Star Volkmann Ltd. Dharwad is also planned & Designed by us. We acted as Prime Consultants for a number of Sugar Factories during the time like MGSSK Bhalki, Naranja SSK Bidar, Raitara SSK Rannanagar, Dhanlaxmi SSK Ramdurg, Sangam SSK Hidakal Dam and the saga continued till date with more than 30 sugar factories in India and abroad. The Partnership Firm converted into a Private Limited Company in the Year 1991.    

Year 2000–2010

The decade was the most productive year both financially and Client wise. Financially, we breached the 8 digit mark as early as 2004 and saw a substantial growth in terms of comprehensive engineering solutions to all Clients belonging to different genres ranging from Irrigation Networks, Bridges / Barrages, Lift Irrigation Schemes, Water supply works to Industrial projects, Commercial structures , Institutional buildings, Sports Complexes, Treatment Plants, Cooling Towers etc. We were appointed as Consultants by KNNL, KBJNL, MRBC, UTP Main Canal & UKP for the preparation of Designs, Drawings Estimates & BOQ for Distribution Networks, Large CDs, Bridges etc. We have completed lift Irrigation projects like Poorigali LIS, Teggi Siddapur LIS, Kotabagi LIS, Guddadamallapur LIS, Krishna Teera Raith Sangh Bridge cum Barrage, Bridge cum Barrage across river Bhima at Sonna & Sonnati etc. We were important part of World Bank Aided Jal Nirmal Project at Belgaum, Dharwad & Haveri. The most unique and challenging feature being the Community Participation in the implementation of Water Supply Scheme to project villages. We did commendably well and KRWS&SA honored our efforts by patronizing us for nearly 12 years. This also marked the birth of ‘AHEAD” an NGO with the sole intention of imparting technical ‘Know How’ to the common people during implementation of such schemes and Social Service. We planned & worked on multi storey Commercial projects like Rehabilitation & Construction of Commercial Complex at Upper Bazar Ponda Goa and just before that completed Srinath Complex at Hubli. We were engaged as 2nd Project Management Consultants by Karnataka Institute of Medical sciences Hubli wherein we have completed 18 projects involving Nurses Hostel for Boys, Special Wards, Indoor Stadium, Pavilion, STP, Roads, Drains, and Renovation works. Worked for the Construction of Forensic Psychiatry Ward for Male & Female, Rehabilitation Centre, Modern Kitchen & Mechanized Laundry at DIMHANS Dharwad which was functioning under  KIMS. We completed Construction of Kannada Bhavan & Auditorium of Capacity 1242 audiences for HDMC, Hubli. We have designed and planned the construction of Showrooms at various places for Bellad Group of Companies, Hubli. We went places after getting appointed as PMC for the Construction of Residential School Complexes like MDRS, KRCRS, EMRS, ABVRS in all over Karnataka. So far we have completed more than 200 schools and Hostel buildings. Another 100 plus projects are on the cards.  

2011 – Till

We worked with TATA Marcopolo, Bharat Earthmovers Ltd., Microfinish Valves Pvt., Ltd., Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Ltd. at Koppal, Solapur and Hiriyur, Micro Plastic Pvt. Ltd., J K Cements, Bharat Benz, Mangalore & Chitradurga, Dalmiya Cement Ltd., ADM AGRO, Gem Food Park LLC , Nandu Chemicals, Surin Automotives Bangalore, Bharat Earthmovers Ltd. Bangalore. HINDALCO Ltd. (Aditya Birla Group), Model Buckets & Attachments Goa & Bangalore, Bharat NRE Coke Ltd., KGF, Kolar, Nectar Beverages Pvt. Ltd., LMW, in the Industrial Sector. We are working with Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd. For their Industrial units at Malda, Ahmedabad, Sitarganj, Shiggaon & Chalisgaon. Coke Oven project at Koppal for KFIL is nearing completion. We completed a Multi Village Water Supply Scheme under World Bank Aided Jal Nirmal project in record time duration at Gorabal in Belgaum District. We are associated with HDMC, Hubli since 2018 and have completed more than 2200 under various development grants as PMC. We have provided Design Consultancy for Smart City Project at Dharwad & Hubli. We have rendered services as Third party Consultancy services for RMSA works involving more than 600 Schools spread in 9 Districts in Karnataka. We have successfully completed PMC services for KSPH&IDCL project at Shivamogga, Davangere & Chitradurga District HQ. Currently working with the Client at Koratgere. We have successfully completed the Construction of Market Complex at Bicholim Goa for GSUDA. We have completed a Sugar Factory at Finchaa – Ethiopia and are providing Design Consultancy services for Sugar Factories in Kenya and Tanzania. We have a full-fledged Laboratory with NABL Accreditation to support our PMC & Third Party Works.
